ESS - Audiology/Communication
ASL Communications
Students often come to OSD lacking in receptive and/or expressive skills in American Sign Language (ASL). This service is designed to provide either 1:1 or group sessions with the ASL specialist to improve on their skills in ASL.

Audiology
Besides being a resource to the state and outside agencies, our Audiological services also provides:
- Obtaining, monitoring, and maintaining all amplification equipment and devices.
- Establishing eligibility for services for the IEP team.
- Providing information to students, parents, and staff on the auditory status of students in order to develop goals, objectives and lesson plans.
- Performing routine tympanograms on students in order to monitor middle ear health status.
- Sessions to work on improving listening skills.

Speech Communications
Articulation, lip-reading and listening skills are offered as part of the Speech Comunications services at OSD. The IEP team will determine the type of goals and the frequency of services for the student found eligible for this service. Sessions can be 1:1 or in a group, depending on the objectives to be met for each student. We contract with Willamette Educational Service District for the services of a Speech Language Pathologist who comes to OSD to evaluate for and to provide speech services.
